New Work

I am a native of Pittsburgh and studied at Carnegie Mellon University, and LaRoche College. I would describe my style as realistic impressionism. Inspiration is from the Pennsylvania color changes of each season and the Hudson River Valley School.
In Florida I was attracted to the lush brilliant color of the oranges and had the double pleasure of painting the intense orange tones and then in squeezing my subject and enjoying a delicious drink.

I work in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and ink. The choice of subject and the way I want to interpret the subject determines what medium and style is used .
The medium of choice for outdoor painting is pastel and watercolor because I can work quickly to capture the scene before the light changes..
I meet many nice people while painting outdoors. There are some that allow me to roam their property and paint or photograph their free range chickens and other livestock.

In the studio the main medium is usually oil or acrylic and the subject is most often a still life. I have quite a collection of odds and ends to be used in still life set ups. My rule of thumb is “Don’t throw it away I might paint it someday.”You may see some of these treasures in the paintings at Gallery on 43rd Street.
